Global Giving will have its first meeting in February during second semester. There is no exact date for when as its club officers and sponsors are still trying to arrange times. The meeting will begin work to prepare for 2019’s ND Battle.
Jocelyn Shan said via email the club also needs to take several steps to ensure a successful competition in spring.
“The big things we need to establish logically include finding a venue, time, judges and an MC. Specifically, we are looking to see if the judges and the MC from last year are willing to volunteer again for this coming event,” she said.
Club sponsor Ryan Ringenberg said, “I can tell you from past experience that it’s been reversing the gym and contacting different DJs and dancers from the area.” ND Battle is put together by many individuals and the work of Global Giving.
Out of their $1000 goal for 2019, they have already raised $100 from their Homecoming booth in September. That is 10 percent of their goal as a majority of their fundraising is from ND Battle. All of the money raised will go to Doctors Without Borders, an organization that gives medical assistance to victims of disasters and various conflicts.
Shan said, “This year we are keeping the tradition of donating the funds that we raise throughout the year to Doctors Without Borders. We feel that our fundraising sees the most tangible impact through this organization.” By Bianca Templeton
