The men’s basketball team saw their season come to an end Saturday night in the Noblesville High School gym. The team lost to the Hamilton Southeastern Royals in the Sectional championship game by a score of 57-53. The team made it to the championship game by defeating Noblesville on March 1 and then Westfield on March 4.
The greyhounds were looking to capture their first Sectional championship since 2008, but fell just short.
Forward and senior Alec Peterson led the team in scoring against the Royals with 16 points. Guard and senior Josh Baldridge had 13 points for the Greyhounds, and guard and junior Ben Gardner added 9.
“We didn’t play as well as we would have liked,” Gardner said. “We just turned the ball over too many times and couldn’t get enough stops on the defensive end.”
The Greyhounds had 25 turnovers in the game, a total that is well above their season average. They did, however, out-rebound the Royals 32-16, which helped make up for the large turnover disparity.
