AP test registration to begin Feb. 14

Starting on Feb. 14, students will be able to register for AP tests that will take place later this year, according to counseling department chairperson Linda Skafish.

Fees to take the AP test are $20 for subjects related to math and science and $87 for the others, according to Skafish. There are also reduced fees for those who receive free or reduced lunches.

After March 9, when the official registration ends, late fees will start to apply. And if a student were to register after March 29, when the tests have already been ordered, students will have to pay an extra $50 per test.

“That’s really pricey,” Skafish said. “As far as the registration process, I think… Don’t put it off, get on it and register.”

Junior Nina Sun, who is taking five AP courses this year, said she agrees with this. She said also recommends most everyone enrolled in an AP Class to take it.

“I feel like most people who take the AP class should register for the test, because that’s what they’ve been preparing for the entire year,” Sun said. “Most of them, they’re not that difficult. Like, the class work is usually much more difficult than the actual test. It’s either that, or the test is hard, but it’s curved in a way so that it’s easier to get a good score.”
