LifeLines is scheduled to meet on the morning of March 21 to finalize plans for Pre-Spring Break Awareness Week. According to LifeLines sponsor Rebekah Overbey, LifeLines members will be able to sign up for responsibilities during the awareness campaign and for seat belt checks at the upcoming meeting. There will be a work session after school on March 22.
The club intends for the campaign, which will take place the week of March 26, to promote good decision-making during spring break. Speaker Kira Hudson will deliver a speech on making smart choices to juniors during SRT on March 26. Throughout the week, LifeLines members will hang up banners around the school and distribute fliers advocating safety and wise decisions. Students have also organized a “Grim Reaper” project, in which club members will wear LifeLines shirts and take a vow of silence to promote awareness of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“It is to help students make better choices over spring break,” Overbey said. “Choices that will save their lives and possibly those of others. Choices that will not limit their options in the future.”
At the previous meeting, LifeLines members discussed the needs for the final seat belt check and brainstormed ideas for upcoming events.
Eric Cui, LifeLines vice president and junior, said the Pre-Spring Break Awareness Week spreads a crucial message to the student body.
“We’re just trying to prevent as many needless deaths as we can,” Cui said.
