After winning the Semistate competition, the color guard is preparing for the State Final, which will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium on Nov. 3.
“I feel pretty good about it,” Haley Fisher-Gest, guard member and junior, said. “I think it’ll be pretty close between us and Avon.”
Guard sponsor Rosie Queen agreed that Avon High School poses a threat. “They are huge competition,” she said. “We are kind of lucky because we get to compete against them every weekend, and most of the groups don’t get to see them until the national championships, but the fact that we were so close to them last weekend is encouraging.”
As for preparation, Queen said that guard members are working to perfect their performance. “We are now trying to clean our show, which means that we are trying to get everybody to synchronize and do everything exactly the same and put some polish on it. We kind of finished all the choreography finally about last week and now we’re trying to get the performance level up super-duper high and get it ready to perform these last few shows.”
