According to science department chairperson Jennifer Marlow, the CHS students who went to the state level advanced to the national level for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). They are junior Claudia Huang, senior Vaibhav Vavilala, junior Sharmila Paul and a team of junior Katie Gao and junior Charles Liang. The fair will be held this week in Phoenix, AZ until May 17.

Gao said she teamed up with Liang over the summer at IUPUI to research the synthesis of high surface area of nano-graphene composites at a solid state. In order to go to Arizona, Gao said she had to rearrange some of her AP exams.

Liang said there will be people from over 70 different countries at ISEF.

Gao said, “It should be an amazingly fun experience in which we can meet kids all over the world. I can’t wait.”
