Speech team’s next meet will be in La Porte on Jan. 11, and, according to speech team co-sponsor Jacleen Joiner, there may be a bus provided for the two-hour drive there if enough team members decide to compete.

Joiner said she wants to obtain a license for bus driving to make transportation more convenient.

Joiner said via email, “The meet that we were registered to attend Dec. 14 was cancelled. I was really looking forward to a road trip.” Joiner said she and speech team co-sponsor Anna Kaiser cancelled the previous meet, on Dec. 7, due to a lack of participants.

Elaina Xiong, member of speech team and senior, said, “I’m disappointed that the December meets got cancelled.” Xiong said there have been fewer meets this year than usual.

However, according to Xiong, this year, speech team has been to many different venues than in previous years.

Xiong said, “I’m excited for the meets in January because we’re going to places that we’ve never competed at before.”
