According to Assistant Principal Joseph Schaller, renovation of the performing arts area will occur during this summer. The renovation will feature the filling of the band pit as well as some room design changes.

According to Schaller, the filling of the band pit will allow for the band room to become less restricted.
“We’re planning to fill in the floor there to make it more of a multipurpose room,” Schaller said. “Groups like color guard can’t use it all whole lot right now.”
In addition to the filling of the band pit, the performing arts area will also renovate some rooms into classroom space.
According to Matt Hodges, band member and junior, the new band pit will offer the advantage of more convenience.
“For jazz band every morning, I have to haul a vibraphone at 6:45 single-handedly down all those tiers, and that’s no fun,” he said. “I think filling it will widen its uses and lead to less rolled ankles.”
