This year’s men’s tennis team is poised to be one of the best in school history. Mike Bostic, coach of the varsity team, said via e-mail, “We have set very big team goals this season; at the top of the list is the State championship.”
Last year’s undefeated season has made high expectations for this year, but Mihir Kumar, one of the senior captains of the team, said “We’ve worked hard, our team has a lot of talent, we’ve practiced a lot, and we believe in ourselves, so I think that we will be able to live up to the expectations.”
Elliot Yee, a senior captain of the team, said, “This year’s team is definitely one of the best, if not the best team that I have played for. We have a lot of really improved players and some great new freshmen too.”
According to Kumar, the team wants to make tennis a bigger event, and they want to draw out more spectators and fans. “We want the games to be loud and exciting,” Yee said. “People need to come out to the games so that they can see how good we really are. Plus, I’ll be on the court.”
