CHS is currently hosting a Shakespeare exhibit in Pod One of the library from now until Sept. 12. Media Center visitors can take a look at a 12-panel display about Shakespeare’s life, his works and his era, as well as an accompanying video and book assortment.

“I thought (the Shakespeare exhibit) was interesting,” said freshman English teacher Sandra Weichert, “I liked that it looked at different aspects of his world, not just his work.”

Students are also enjoying it. “I think this is actually a great exhibit,” said sophomore Joseph Hsu, “Normally exhibits take a bit more time, but this one is pretty nice and easy to just walk around and read.”

However this is not the only exhibit that CHS has displayed in the past. “Its part of an ongoing programming that we’ve been doing for the last few years,” said Media Specialist John Shearin, “bringing in traveling exhibits, on a variety of curriculum related topics.” Shearin said that there is usually a display to look at, most for about a month at a time. Some of the other exhibits that the media center has displayed include the Holocaust, the Roaring Twenties, and the American Revolution, each coinciding with what students are learning about.

“Right now the Freshman English classes are reading Shakespeare and studying the Elizabethan age so we have this on,” Shearin said.

“(The exhibit) really adds life to the library,” said Weichert, “it’s not just a static place to store things, but it’s a place where there’s always something going on.”
