The health center prepares for the colder weather

RN Lori Baldwin finalizes paperwork on her desktop. Baldwin said she would like to be a friendly face for all students feeling under the weather.

According to RN Lori Baldwin, the clinic is finalizing collections of updated and compliant immunization records, while finally settling into a routine. The health center serves a variety of health needs, some as simple as a bandaid, while others are more complex, which are especially prevalent in seasons common for causing illnesses.

Baldwin said via email,  “As we approach the colder months of the year, we will start to see an increase in respiratory illnesses, including colds and flu. If snow and ice occur, we may see some slip and fall injuries.”

Senior Nick Rubendall said, “I usually only go to the health center if there is something seriously wrong, because my teachers have bandaids, but it is a really nice place when I feel sick and can’t concentrate.”

Baldwin said, “Getting through the long cold months of winter can sometimes be challenging but hopefully we can share a little care, compassion and friendly smiles when students need to visit us.” By Marissa Ryan
