Students for Education, a club at the school dedicated to promoting literacy in the Indianapolis area, is extending the time for its members to vote in officer elections.
“Since the last meeting was announced incorrectly, we’ll be rescheduling the officer elections so more people have a say in who gets the positions,” Ivy Yan, club president and senior, said. “In the meantime, we’ll be meeting with prospective officers to give them a better understanding of scheduling tutors, fundraising, and all of the club’s basic functions.”
According to Yan, the club has been doing well this year with a large number of enthusiastic members.
“This year’s new members have been really awesome and motivated,” Yan said. “The kids we tutor at the shelters are really benefiting from more people helping them out. There are a lot of kids who need a little help now and then, so we are always looking for new members.”
“I leave most of the organization and scheduling to the students,” sponsor Sherri Pankratz said.
Yan said she is thrilled at the development of the club so far this year.
“I’m really excited about this year and all the good our members can do for the kids,” Yan said. “We can also learn a lot from these truly brave and inspiring children that we have the honor to work with.” By Henry Zhu <[email protected]>
