Last Friday, the men’s track team won the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference championship for the first time in 11 years. Now they look to continue riding that moment into the County Meet this Friday, May 6. The meet will take place at the Carmel Stadium and begins a 5 p.m.
Head Coach Kenneth Browner said he believes that winning the MIC was a big confidence boost for the team, but that it could also prove to be harmful to the team for the County meet.
“We spent a lot of energy and emotion last week at MIC and I am not sure if we can perform at the level in back-to-back weeks,” Browner said. “Still, winning the MIC was an accomplishment, as we know now that we can compete with the best in the state.”
The team enters the race coming off of a full week of rest, so sprinter and junior Adam Kehoe said he believes that the team will be rejuvenated and ready to go for the County meet.
“I don’t think MIC will have that much of an effect on us for this meet because it was a full week ago,” Kehoe said. “We’ve had some time to recover and refocus on the task ahead after being so excited about winning last week.” By Charlie Browning <[email protected]>
