The men’s tennis team continues a hot streak after coming off a 7-0 victory over Kokomo. Head Coach Mike Bostic thinks the team played well against Kokomo. “We have a lot of new players in the varsity line up and I expect them to improve each match this season,” Bostic said via email. The team continues to prepare for the Shirley Invitational on Aug. 31 at North Central High School.
Junior tennis player Radha Vishnubhotla thinks the key to success is working better as a team. “It’s not that we need to get better as individuals, but we need to go against our opponents as one,” he said. “Also we need to get loud. The underclassmen are still trying to get used to being a greyhound tennis player and need to help out cheering for the team.”
Both Vishnubhotla and Bostic think the goal for the weekend is to win and to gain experience for future matches. “I want us to compete well. It is an extremely challenging day. Three matches against the best in the state, and it’s supposed to be very hot. I want our guys to enjoy the competition and understand that this is just a measuring stick,” Bostic said.
However, Bostic did see flaws in the team. “We need to work on service returns in doubles,” he said. All in all, Bostic plans to continue the same routine and hopes his players have fun this weekend and hopefully pick up the win. He said, “Go Hounds.”
