JSU prepares for Passover, matzah sale

According to club president and junior Brett Gerstein, JSU plans to make chocolate seder on March 27 after school. Gerstein said that seder is a meal traditionally eaten on the first night- sometimes on the first two nights- of the Jewish holiday http://www.history.com/videos/history-of-passover.

“Basically, it’s like a traditional passover seder, but everything is made out of chocolate and other candy,” Gerstein said. “The story of passover is recounted during that meal. Traditional foods on the seder plate include a bone, an egg, parsley and salt water, bitter herbs, charoset- which is a mix of nuts apples and wine- and matzah. Each represents a different part of the Passover story.”

Gerstein also said JSU still plans on holding its annual matzah sale after spring break. The charity for which the proceeds will go to has yet to be decided.
