According to Assistant Principal Doug Bird, the maintenance and custodial departments are priming the building and grounds for the colder winter months.
Bird said that in early October, the maintenance staff changed the building from the set summer temperature point of 75 degrees to the set winter point of 68 degrees. In addition, the custodial staff trimmed the landscaping features and cut the grass for the last time of the year.

Also, preventative measures were taken for potential severe weather, such as snow or ice, according to Bird.
“(The maintenance and custodial staffs) do a good job of paying attention to what the weather forecast is so they can be prepared a day or two out. The custodial and maintenance staffs work over time to plow the parking lots if it does snow or if it’s iced, to get the salt down.”
Junior Rachel Krieger said she appreciates the adjustments that both departments do in preparation for winter.
Krieger said, “They make it a lot easier to bear by making the school not too cold. It helps me choose how I dress, which is important.”
