Members of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) plans to meet on Nov. 7. Club president and senior Parmida Mostafavi said members may take a trip to the prayer room at CHS to show members where it is located.
At the previous meeting, members participated in a “Halalloween” party.
“Halalloween was a blast. We had candy, decorated bags and had a great talk. Even though we didn’t share any djinn stories, we had focused discussions regarding the scope of Islam, what prayer is like and the differences between Sunni, Shia and Sufi Islam,” Mostafavi said.
Mostafavi also said she felt this year’s club sponsor, science teacher David James, was a good choice because he is interactive at meetings. She said, “(James) doesn’t just isolate himself during the meetings. He actively participates and asks questions. He usually sparks our debates and discussions, actually.”
At the most recent meeting, James conversed with club members about Persian teas. James said, “I am excited to learn about their culture and their religion.”
Members of the club meet every other Thursday after school in Room E242.
