The Astronomy Club will visit Chicago in late May for a field trip, according to sponsor Keith Turner. Turner said the exact date is still undecided, but students are still raising money for the trip through bakes sales during lunch.
“We’re planning on going to Chicago, but we still have to raise more money,” Turner said. “It would be nice to be able to pay admission for some of the group members. We want to go to the Adler planetarium, but it’s up for discussion what we’ll do after that.”
Yanying Chen, Astronomy Club president and senior, said members will sell popcorn and other baked goods during the bake sales.
Chen said, “Hopefully we’ll raise enough profits to cover half of the city passes. Otherwise, we’ll just go for the regular planetarium pass and go elsewhere.”
