CHTV assigns new positions, orders new equipment

CHTV sponsor Courtney Qualls said she has assigned new management positions to the students of CHTV in order to prepare for next year.

“Students applied and were chosen, and my new CHTV head is very enthusiastic about next year,” Qualls said. “She’s already been meeting with all of the other CHTV department heads, and she even met with those of them who are not in her class. She has a lot of ideas for next year, and she’s excited to see what she can do with them.”

Spencer Pendergrass, CHTV member and senior, works in the CHTV lab as he tests out the equipment for an upcoming broadcast on April 18. “The new equipment is supposed to help make our sound better and give our whole broadcast a more professional quality,” Pendergrass said.

As the program looks forward to next year, Spencer Pendergrass, CHTV member and senior, said the broadcast is still making minor improvements to this year’s show. Pendergrass said new supplies were ordered, but the layout of the broadcast should be staying the same.

“We ordered new headsets that make us look like CIA agents,” Pendergrass said. “We also have new walkie talkies, and they are supposed to make it easier for us to communicate from around the school.”

However, as planning for next year continues, the overall structure of the segments of CHTV can still be altered.

“Next year I am looking to see if we can put something alongside the Minute with Mal segment,” Qualls said. “It is a part of the show on the first broadcast of the week, but it is not on the second broadcast of that week. Since we have the pop culture thing, next year we could have another segment to air for that second broadcast.”

Qualls said that while the show will not change much for this year, the planning for next year may lead to more changes for next year’s programs.

Qualls said, “We have a lot of ideas for improvement, and we can always get better. We have new department heads, and they have their own ideas. We will also be getting new students who will have thoughts on the show.”
