After having had two meetings to go over the competition schedule for the rest of the school year and practicing oral jeopardy questions, which are trivia-type questions that use buzzers, the Economics Club will no longer be able to meet during school, according to Michelle Foutz, club sponsor and economics teacher.
Foutz said since she has now left on maternity leave, there would no longer be meetings for club members to meet as a team under her guidance.
“They should still continue to practice on their own, though,” she said. “They should study from the (AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics) textbooks.”
According to member and sophomore Michael Wang, he will “begin to research current economics,” which is a presentation component of the competition at only the national level.
One of Wang’s goals for this competition season is to win the Indiana Economics Challenge National Finals.
He said, “Personally, I just want to have a great year for competition.”
