Tomorrow, the media center will host Creative Writing Con, which will include author visits, a writing workshop and a summer challenge kickoff for the Carmel Clay Public Library’s (CCPL) summer reading program, according to media department chairperson Terri Ramos. Ramos said the four authors visiting are Lisa Aldin, author of One of the Guys, Shannon Lee Alexander, author of Love and Other Unknown Variables, Trisha Leaver, author of The Secrets We Keep, and Sharon Biggs Waller, author of A Mad, Wicked Folly.

Johanne Vincent, media aide and sophomore, said she has read A Mad, Wicked Folly and is looking forward to the author visit.

“I think it’s a really cool opportunity to get a perspective directly from the person who wrote it, because rarely do you ever get to hear the perspective of the person who wrote it and what they were thinking when they wrote this part, and so on, Vincent said.

Additionally, the library will host Vietnam veterans for the Vietnam Day event on May 8.

Ramos said, “We close down the library and all social studies teachers are welcome to bring their students and the library’s filled with Vietnam vets, who tell their stories and talk about everything from anti-war movement to what it was like to battles; they talk about everything.”
