Over winter break, the owners of last year’s vocational building trades house moved in to celebrate Christmas in their new house. With that project done, John Coghlan, the vocational building trades teacher, said he now focuses on finding projects for his students to do this semester, which include finishing up painting and shingling the structures at the Flowing Well Park and finishing a basement.
“We are waiting for the weather to break to finish up at the Flowing Well Park,” Coghlan said.
Coghlan said he is also thinking about a possible project where his class will finish a 3,000 sq. ft. basement. The basement will include a bathroom, kitchen and home theater. His students will come up with possible design ideas and calculate an estimated cost for the homeowners.
Kevin van Hoorde, second year student of the class and senior, is ready to be done with the Flowing Well Park and to start work on the basement. “I’m ready for the park stuff to be over with,” van Hoorde said. “And working in the basement will be better than being out in the cold the entire time.” By Julie Kippenbrock <[email protected]>
