With the debate team’s season now over, Ivy Yan, team president and junior, says the focus of the team is on how their member, sophomore Ray Qian, fares at the National Forensic League National Tournament in July.
“This year, Qian, one of one of our amazing Lincoln-Douglas debaters, will be representing us in Kansas City,” Yan said via-email.
According to Qian, the event will be held from July 13 to 18. Qian said that aside from the pressures of competing, he will be responsible for arranging accommodations and transportation while at the tournament. Schools also must provide a judge for the duration of the event, or face a fine.
According to the National Forensic League’s website, along with trophies, over $130,000 in scholarships will be awarded at the end of the event. By Patrick Bryant <[email protected]>
