Several students from CHS counter-protested a rally held by the Westboro Baptist Church on Feb. 5 at the Carmel Lutheran Church. According to the Westboro Baptist Church’s website, the protest was aimed at the “lukewarm” stance on homosexuality and other issues that WBC members believe the Carmel Lutheran Church advocates. How could you even condone this? What would you do if some one klelid your loved one(s), and people protested at the funeral. God would not condone this atrocious act of killing, and would not condone you going to protest at some ones funeral!!!! I implore you to rethink your plans to protest at these grieving family s time to morn and remember their loved ones to a tragedy that took these people from their lives. And what gives you the right to do protest at someones funeral in a moral sense? I hope one day that either you and your church(if you could really call it a church) wake up and quit preaching hate and intolerance, I thought the word of God is to preach love, tolerance and respect for you fellow man/woman. Or you could just drink your magic Kool-aid and catch a ride on your comet that will take to God to be judged for your evil-ness that you brought toward your fellow man/woman. God would not condone what you have done to bring sorrow into people lives, past or present. What you people have done and are doing is not morally right! The Golden Rule- Do unto others that you would want done to you!

As a Carmel resident, step-mom, and aunt, I was extremely proud to see so many CHS students show up at the counter-protest against the WBC hate-speech. Each and every one of you took time out of your weekend to get involved, form a moral opinion and to practice your rights to assemble and free speech. Moreover you were peaceful, respectful and your sign’s were positive and clever. It’s EASY to lower yourself to the level of haters. It takes WORK to rise above hate, fear and anger.
You are the best example of why our country will continue to grow and improve and be free for all. You make us all proud!
