The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced today that 48 CHS seniors have qualified for National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, and one student has qualified for National Achievement Scholarship Semifinalist for 2013. These seniors will now compete for 8,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $36 million offered in the spring. The prestigious semifinalist status requires outstanding academic records throughout high school, endorsement and recommendation by students’ high school principal and a high score on the PSAT. Scholarship winners will be announced in April 2013.
“This is an accomplishment that should make each and every one of these students very proud,” Jeff Swensson, superintendent Carmel Clay Schools, said. “This recognition comes from dedication and hard work.”
Principal John Williams will address the Semifinalists and their parents at a reception on Sept. 24.
