The administration has selected the teachers who will participate in the AP Capstone Program and is preparing to meet with other schools who are piloting the program, according to Principal John Williams.
Williams said the names of the selected teachers are currently unavailable for release. Additionally, 27 schools are piloting the program this school year, and the administration would like to meet with them to gather specifics about the seminar class.

Williams said, “What we’d like to do is set up a time to go visit a couple of those schools, talk to their teachers, observe their programs with our teachers so that we can really start wrapping our mind around exactly what this program (consists of). We have an idea of the general goals, but as far as the specific curriculum and timelines, we are not sure.”
Student body president George Gemelas said he thinks this process will make the implementation of the AP Capstone Program go more smoothly.
“It will be beneficial for the teachers to travel because they can see what has worked for these different schools, and they also can make their own adjustments and improvements to the system.”
Also, Williams said that approximately 125 juniors are registered for the seminar class of the program, beginning in the 2014-2015 school year.
Gemelas said that he is impressed with the amount of participants in the first year of the program and is looking forward to see how the program will unfold.
He said, “Students are informed about the program, but they don’t know what to expect, but I think no one knows exactly what’s going to happen for the program at this point.”
