I’m Jim Streisel, the adviser for the HiLite newsmagazine, the topically-based Acumen magazine and their corresponding websites. I have been teaching and advising at Carmel High School since 1995. Over the years, I’ve earned a number of awards, including the Dow Jones News Fund National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year (2013), an NSPA Pioneer Award (2012), a DJNF Distinguished Adviser Award (2012), the Indiana Journalism Adviser of the Year Award (2011) and the Carmel Clay Schools Teacher of the Year Award (2011). I’ve also written two journalism textbooks, High School Journalism: A Practical Guide and Scholastic Web Journalism: Connecting with Readers in a Digital World.
