Apple announced the iPhone 5 yesterday, and the annual question looms: is upgrading to the new iPhone worth it? I have a simple answer. If you own an iPhone 4S, it is not worth it. If you own the iPhone 4, or any iPhone before it, it is by far a yes. I say this because the biggest upgrade Apple announced yesterday was not the new iPhone, but the new operating system. With iOS 6, Siri is used to it’s full potential. Before iOS 6, Siri was a nice novelty, but really did not do much, other than provide schedule changes and a few amusing answers. Now, Siri can make restaurant reservations, find sports scores, and much more. The iPhone 4 and below does not have Siri, and therefore cannot access these amazing new features. However, the iPhone 4S already has Siri, and will be receiving the update. While the iPhone 5 features faster download speeds and a better camera, it is not worth buying (and potentially breaking contracts) if you already own an iPhone 4S. Conclusion: Must buy if you own an iPhone 4 or below; a don’t buy for 4S owners.
