UNICEF club members will plan a bake sale during the next club meeting, according to Janine Tang, club vice president and junior. The dates of the first meeting of the semester and the bake sale have not been decided yet.

Club co-president and junior Cynthia Wu said the club has partaken in bake sales in previous years, and while they are generally less time consuming than the other events the club participates in, they do add to the overall funds the club collects.

Tang said, “What we do second semester is not as defined as what we do first semester, so there’s less involvement.”

In addition to the donations collected from the International Fair and Halloween trick-or-treat fundraiser, the funds from the sale will go to the international UNICEF organization. According to its website the organization’s purpose is “to work with others to overcome the obstacles the poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path.”

Club sponsor Jill Noel said, “Every dollar (collected) could tremendously help give a child medicine, give them a meal, and so that’s why even though it doesn’t look we might raise enough, very much, it does help.”
