In this post, I’m going to give my prediction for Sectionals 1-8…and the score for each Sectional Championship.
Sectional 1: Merrillville (5-4) @ Portage (0-9)
Portage got a surprise victory after getting a 0-9 record in the regular season. But Merrillville beat Portage earlier in the season. Prediction: Merrillville by a score of 34-17.
Sectional 2: Penn (8-1) @ Chesterton (7-2)
Penn has been a regular in the Semi-State. Chesterton has a strong record and may have the strongest record Penn will have to face until Semi-State. Prediction: Penn by a score of 24-17.
Sectional 3: Carroll (6-3) @ Homestead (6-3)
Carroll has won 5 straight Sectional Championship. However, Homestead has an equal record. Prediction: Homestead by a score of 20-17 in overtime.
Sectional 4: Fishers (6-3) @ Carmel (7-2)
Carmel and Fishers are great, and a lot of people believe whoever wins this game will play in State. Prediction: Carmel, after double overtime, by a score of 17-14.
Sectional 5: Ben Davis (5-4) @ Avon (7-2)
Ben Davis beat Pike last week by a score of 55-27, coming back from a halftime deficit. However, the Indianapolis Star has said that Avon has been consistent on both sides of the football. Prediction: Avon by a score of 70-66.
Sectional 6: Lawrence North (2-7) @ Cathedral (6-3)
Lawrence North isn’t great, but you don’t have to be great when you face North Central. However, Cathedral has been predicted by many to be the next State Champion. Prediction: Cathedral by a score of 35-21.
Sectional 7: Southport (7-2) @ Warren Central (6-3)
Southport has the better record, but they haven’t been proven against MIC teams. However, Warren Central has been proven to be Sectional Champions time and time again. Prediction: Warren Central by a score of 49-14.
Sectional 8: Jeffersonville (5-4) @ Center Grove (9-0)
Center Grove has been unstoppable, and they have slaughtered teams. Jeffersonville has been unproven against MIC teams. Prediction: Center Grove 63-14.
