The CHS women’s basketball team has replaced Ben Davis with Jay County as their
senior night opponent, following the cancellation of Ben Davis’ basketball season. The game
will be played on Jan. 28 at 7:45 p.m.
“It’s definitely put a little bit of an adjustment to our practice plan because (Pike and Ben
Davis) compared to (Jay County) are very different stylistically, but we’ve got some teams in
Sectional that play like that, so I think that it will be a good change for use moving forward
toward our Sectional,” Head Coach Tod Windlan said.
Ben Davis and Pike had their seasons cancelled due to an altercation between the two
teams during their game on Jan. 16 which involved 50-60 people on the court during the brawl,
including players, coaches, and fans, according to an Indianapolis Star Report. Windlan said that
following the Ben Davis vs Pike incident, he went over the situational protocol with his team.
“(Coach) sat down with us and explained what to do if such an incident were to arise in a
game. If we are on the bench, we are to stay on the bench, and if you are on the court, get any of
our players out of the incident and to the bench,” senior Celene Funke said.
