The next meeting of the National English Honor Society (NEHS) is scheduled for Dec. 4 in E113. According to club adviser Miranda Prizio, NEHS met for the first time in the 2024-2025 school year on Oct. 16 where Michael Fortuna, senior and club president, outlined plans for the year. According to Fortuna, NEHS plans to promote literacy throughout Carmel through volunteering and events.
“We encourage reading of all kinds, whether it is popular fiction like Colleen Hoover, Sarah J. Maas, the Magic Tree House or Russian classics. Everyone is welcome,” Fortuna said.
As for the goal of NEHS, Prizio said, “I think the goal is to bring the love of reading, literature, and discussing literature to a wider group of people, maybe outside of the traditional English class format, maybe bring it into the community.” NEHS meetings take place once a month on Wednesdays in E113. Any student interested in the club may fill out the NEHS Interest Survey.
