According to Mason Yao, Hip Hop Club officer and senior, Hip Hop Club continues to prepare for Carmel’s Best Dance Crew (CBDC), as CBDC provides many benefits to the club, including the opportunity for competiton, teamwork and reaching goals. Hip Hop Club meets every Tuesday after school until 5 p.m. in the main lobby near the Dale E. Graham Auditorium.
“CBDC provides competition. Honestly, it brings people together because you get the opportunity to compete against one another so you have something to strive towards, you have a goal,” Yao said. “It gets people moving, it gets people working towards something.”
Yao said many of the crews are already well into their choreography and routines, trying very hard to aim for a victory.
Sponsor Lacey Grabek said she can see club members slowly making progress on their routines.
“CBDC allows them to show what they can do; it gives them a purpose besides just dancing.” Grabek said. “It gives them a goal or just an opportunity to show off their talent.”
“CBDC brings out the best in people” Yao said. “Sometimes (competition) brings out the worst in people, but not here.”
