Good news for Michael Jackson fans. A posthumous album of previously unreleased tracks recorded by the late pop legend is set to release on May 13.
The album is titled “Xscape,” and contains eight tracks recorded by Jackson at various times during his long career in the industry. Several current producers, including Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, and John McClain, among others, have updated the songs, for the sake of “contemporizing” them, in words of L.A. Reid, executive producer of the album.
The singer from Indiana died in June 2009 at the age of 50 from a lethal dose of anesthetic.
On a personal note, it is never harmful to remember and honor a past legend like Michael Jackson. One of the most popular music acts of all time, Jackson broke racial barriers as well as sales records and is arguable the most influential performer of all time. So much so that most male pop stars of today, particular African-American ones, are borderline Michael Jackson imitators. Is this good or bad? That is for the audience to decide, but this blogger is not adverse to being reminded of one of the greatest recording stars of all time through the work of others.
But Chris Brown, lay of the trademark vocal interjections (“he-he”). You’re no MJ.
