On Thursday, May 19, the men’s track and field team will compete in the Sectional tournament. The meet will take place at Carmel Stadium at 5 p.m. After a stellar regular season, the team looks to continue its roll into the postseason.
“We got into a bit of a groove at the end of the season, and hopefully it will continue into Sectionals and beyond,” sophomore Grant Goodman said. “We’re excited for it and we’re really looking forward to seeing how we do.”
Head Coach Kenneth Browner said he will be interested to see how his team performs against quality competition when it matters most.
“(Hamilton Southeastern) is our main competition because they have the most depth,” Browner said. “The most important events for us will be the field events because that is where HSE is the deepest. If we keep that part of the meet close, we will have a chance to win.”
Browner listed off a number of guys who he said needed to step up in order for the team to reach the next level.
“We all know we have to step up our game over the next couple of weeks if we want to continue to go deep into the postseason,” Goodman said. “We know that no one is going to give us anything this time of year, so we have to work that much harder.”
