On Thursday, the men’s soccer team will play Pike at Murray Stadium. The game will start at 7 p.m.
Last year, Pike ended its season undefeated. While Pike did not play Carmel last year, Pike entered the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC) this year and will be playing Carmel as part of their game roster.
According to Head Coach Shane Schmidt, while Pike will be a good competitor, his players are ready for the challenge. “I’m sure Pike will come out ready to play. We’re Carmel, and everybody wants to beat Carmel,” he said. “One of the neat things is that it’s Pack the House night. So hopefully we’ll have a nice size crowd. We’ll go out and put on a good show for them and come away with a victory.”
The CHS men’s soccer team has not had many practices due to multiple games each week; however, Evan Morris, varsity soccer player and senior, said he is optimistic about the game against Pike. He said, “I don’t think any wins are easy. As Carmel, we always have a target on our back. So it should be a good, competitive game.”
