Senior Maggie Rees discusses the college application process during her meeting with her counselor. Rees said senior year has been stressful because, as a golf player, she had to apply to college earlier than everyone else.
Throughout the next two weeks, counselors will continue senior meetings, according to counselor Bettina Cool. During the meetings counselors will discuss requirements of graduation and the college application process with seniors.
Cool said that this time of year can be somewhat stressful for seniors, and the counselors are here to help them if needed.
“Well, I generally say to seniors this is a lot of work. This is stressful, though it’s very normal for you to be feeling the way you are,” Cool said. “Continue to visit schools and then as you decide you can make a smart decision, but ask us questions if you run into trouble. Just try to remember it’s going to work out the way it’s supposed to work out. We do have some preconceived ideas of how life is supposed to go and sometimes we’re not right and things work out alright.”
Senior Maggie Rees agrees with Cool that senior year can be stressful.
“It wasn’t that stressful for me because I only had to apply to IU, but it was stressful because I had to apply before everyone else because of golf. If I didn’t play golf it’d be super stressful because all my friends are stressed out right now,” Rees said.
