Junior and member Royce McConnell will teach the Swing Club members during the Sept. 29 meeting, which will take place outside of the main cafeteria from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
McConnell said he is very excited about teaching this year.
“I’ve done a little bit of teaching in previous years, but now I’m doing it more. Next class, I’m thinking about starting with the basic spins; cool moves like the Pretzel and the Banana Split,” he said.
According to co-president and junior Shea Rhoutsong, they will start switching teachers often.
“This year we decided to try something new. We are basically spreading the wealth so everyone has something to do,” Rhoutsong said.
This year is also the year for McConnell to show his leadership skills, as the presidents of the club will graduate this year.
“Many people in the (Swing Club) have told me that I would make a good president next year. That’s one of the reasons I’m going to teach the club more. I am starting to get the feel (of leading the club), and I hope I can be a good leader,” McConnell said.
