Swing Club, which meets Mondays outside the main cafeteria from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., continues to review steps learned last semester, as well as new steps that are more advanced.
According to member and junior Royce McConnell, the club members will review steps they have already learned, so they won’t forget anything for the new semester.
McConnell said, “We’ve learned a lot of different spins and combos and steps like that. We’re moving on to ‘Aerials’ and other things with lifts and dips, so that’ll be fun.”
Sponsor and teacher Caren Rickett said they are also learning new steps for an upcoming dance that they are starting to plan.
“I’m not really involved with the planning, but I know that they want to do a dance soon. They hope to have it in the community room, but we might have it some other place,” Rickett said.
McConnell said they are in their beginning stages of planning the dance, and they don’t have an official date for the dance.
McConnell said, “We have to figure out renting out spaces, and we’re giving Mrs. Rickett ideas on when we might want to do it. It’ll probably be on a Friday.”
