During the spring of 2015, a couple months after starting my gluten-free and dairy-free diet, the weather was getting warmer, and my brother started to eat ice cream. I then realized that I wasn’t able to do that. I went with my mom to Whole Foods and found that there was a area for dairy-free ice cream. I quickly put the vanilla-flavored ice cream in my cart. When I finally got to try it, it tasted good, but you can definitely tell that there’s something missing.
My mom then went and got the mint chip and cookie dough flavors for me to try. I had both and absolutely loved them. So, whenever I get the pint-sized ice cream for myself I always grab those two flavors. They taste amazing, and you really can’t tell the difference that they’re made with almond or coconut milk.
Here my take on my favorite flavors:
Mint Chip
When you first look at it, you don’t think it will taste minty at all because it doesn’t have a green coloring. However, when you taste it, it is really minty. This ice cream is great when you just need something cold to eat. If you can’t have almonds, then there is a coconut milk ice cream too.
Cookie Dough
This is probably my favorite of the two flavors. The best part is that the cookie bits in the ice cream are gluten free, but you can’t tell at all. They taste like regular cookie bits. This ice cream taste most like the original one (the one with dairy). The only bad part with the coconut milk is that sometimes you can taste the coconut flavor, but overall this ice cream is great when I want something sweet.
