According to president and sophomore Chelsea Dai, members of Typography and Design Club are currently creating paper pinwheels and fundraising for Syrian Refugees.
“I got this idea from the library where they had volunteers to go and help make pinwheels. So basically for each pinwheel, we will donate $2 to Syrian Refugees,” Dai said.
“We’re going to take paper, and we’re going to cut it and fold it. It’s really easy.”
Afterwards, she and members will give the pinwheels to the Carmel Clay Public Library who will send the pinwheels to the refugees.
According to club’s sponsor Nicole Laughrey, this fundraiser should encourage other clubs at CHS to support a philanthropic cause.
She said, “I think it’s really great to see Carmel clubs, regardless of what the club is focused on, finding ways to impact the society, the world, and culture in ways bigger than themselves. So I’m really proud of their effort to reach out and do something philanthropic.”
