The CHS theater recently began rehearsals for the spring musical “Godspell.” Director John Burlace said the show is a series of songs and moralistic stories taken from familiar Biblical references.
Sophomore Eric Bembenek plays Judas in the musical. According to Bembenek, Judas is one of the disciples who betrays Jesus, and in the musical, is portrayed as a main antagonist.
“(People should come out to see the show) because the cast and crew and direction is going to be fantastic and it’s a great show with a good message,” Bembenek said.
“Bring It On” was the original choice for the spring music, but, according to Burlace, the musical was changed to “Godspell” to give students a “greater opportunity to succeed than ‘Bring It On’ would have.”
Performances are May 12 through 15 and tickets go on sale online March 23 and at the bookstore March 30.
