The men’s cross-country team came off a dominating performance at the Hamilton County meet last Tuesday, winning it and beating the Noblesville team 44 to 62.
The team hopes to continue its season with another win Sept. 5, as it will travel to Terre Haute to compete in the State Preview meet.
According to Head Coach Erhard “Doc” Bell via e-mail, the team will run against Number-2 Huntington North and Number-3 Terre Haute North, ranked according to the latest coaches poll.
Other competing local teams include Hamilton Southeastern, Westfield, Ben Davis and Center Grove.
Varsity runner and senior Griffin Brunk said he thinks the State Preview will be a competitive meet. “There will be lots of good schools there, and we have a strong team this year,” Brunk said. “We’ll take it easy before the meet, try to recover and get mentally prepared so we’ll be ready to compete on Saturday.”
“Carmel is currently ranked number four, but we had a very strong showing in the recent Hamilton County meet,” Bell said. “If the team runs to its potential, we have a very good chance to win the meet, and if they continue to work hard and believe in themselves and each other, I feel we can contend for a State Championship on Oct. 31.” Mackenzie Madison <[email protected]>
