On Sept. 16, the counseling department released the names of 34 National Merit Semifinalists.
Those who qualified were seniors Bradley Adams, Steven Brisley, Griffin Brunk, Timothy Chai, Susie Chen, Kimberly Collins, Shataakshi Dube, Kathleen Fenerty, Justin Groot, Aaron Henry, Michelle Hu, Sunny Huang, Mike Jiang, Nicholas Johnson, Angela Ma, Caroline Marshall, Gina McGauley, Ansel Nalin, Dianya Pu, Shawn Qian, Min Qiao, Meghan Reidy, Vincent Reuter, Alice Shen, Stephen Skolnick, Stephen Spence, Jimmy Sun, Sergei Uversky, Vikas Vavilala, Michael Wang, Reid Watson, Zoe Yan, Michelle Yun and David Zhang.
Carmel High School had the most semifinalists from any high school in the state, which has been the trend for the past few years.
Those who qualify for National Merit Finalist standings will also receive a $2,500 scholarship, along with various other scholarships from individual schools.
