DIY SCRUNCHIES
Materials:
- Fabric that you like
- A hair tie
- A hand sewing needle
- Thread similar to the color of the fabric
- Scissors
STEPS:
Step One: Cut a piece of fabric three to four inches by 12 to 14 inches, depending on how “scrunched” you want your scrunchie.
Step Two: Fold the fabric in half over the hair tie with the “wrong” side facing out, then place your beginning stitch to keep it in place.
Step Three: Continue to sew the fabric together over the hair tie. Make sure to scrunch the fabric as you go along, or the fabric will not be able to completely fit over the hair tie. The fabric should start to create a tube over the hair tie.
Step Four: Once you’ve reached the end of the fabric, sew a couple of knots to prevent the stitching from unraveling.
Step Five: Begin to turn the fabric around so it’s right side out. If needed, use a pencil to push the fabric through.
Step Six: Sew the two ends of the fabric tube together and cut off the excess thread, but be careful not to cut too close to the ends of your knots, or they will unravel. Enjoy!
