FCCLA is working on the final preparations for the 2019 State Leadership Conference, which takes place March 7-9 at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie. Competitors are fine-tuning their event presentations; they will deliver them to this chapter March 1. FCCLA also put together its first honor chapter binder, a log of their activities over the last 12 months. This binder will receive recognition at the conference.
“(FCCLA) is crazy right now,” Margaret O’Connor, FCCLA president and senior, said. “The conference is zooming towards us; it’s all I can think about.
“Right now, I can’t imagine a post-state conference world.”
O’Connor has several tasks to perform over the next two weeks for the conference. Last Saturday, she finalized an honor chapter binder and attended an officer’s meeting.
“To get the highest recognition for your binder, you have to write about at least 25 different activities you chapter has done; it wasn’t easy to make,” she said.
“This is the first time we’re doing this binder, our members really felt enthusiastic this time around,” sponsor Nancy Spencer said.
O’Connor said the officer meeting was dedicated to organizing for the event and creating an officer skit for the conference.
Spencer said, “This is the biggest group by far (to attend the conference) since I became sponsor. It really speaks to the work our officers have done, as well as the high rate of active members we have this year.
“Everyone is really prepared. We have presentations March 1; we are all on track.”
