On Dec. 14, Dress to Impress (DTI) released their Christmas update, installing a new lobby, new items, codes, and decorations. This update reversed a lot of the implementations of the DTI Halloween update, which was released in October.
Lobby
The new lobby in DTI is, to put it simply, beautiful. The design is back to the old lobby, with the obbies back in their original place (and took away the special Halloween obbies, replacing them with Christmas-themed obbies that are easier) complete with several new rooms. There’s a Christmas tree in the middle of the lobby, with fake presents and colorful ornaments, along with the podium. The creators added a kitchen, with a fireplace, a cooking area, and a plate of cookies and milk, and also added a new patio where the beach and the Halloween portal were originally. The beach and the mountains have been replaced with an ice skating rink, along with skating animations when your character moves onto the rink.
Features
Several features have been added to the Christmas update. Most notably, the creators have brought back an “Old Item of the Week”, where they allow you to use a item that they’ve removed for a week. For the first week, it’s a shiny dress with a heart-shaped cutout on the torso. Players can find the featured “Old Item of the Week” directly in front of the make-up and hair salon. Additionally, a Christmas advent calendar has been given to every player. Each day that you log into DTI during the Christmas update, you’re able to obtain a new piece of clothing. If you miss a day, however, you cannot get the item the next day you log in. However, the best feature that was added is that you can now alter the pieces of clothing, not just by color or patterns, but also by textures. You can make the pieces of clothing you wear metallic, matte, rainbow glittery, and many other textures as well.
Items
Several clothing items have been added to the new update. The winter-themed clothes, such as new hats, jackets, and skirts, are all beautifully designed and are some of my favorite pieces of clothing in the game. Many of these items are also very unique- unlike some updates, where there are new pieces of clothing that are all pretty similar, many of these new pieces are completely different from already-existing pieces and uniquely designed. Not only are there new pieces of clothing, but there are several new hair designs and make-up designs. The new hair designs, to put it simply, are immaculate. They vary in length, texture, and design. All around, the new items have contributed greatly to the amount of variety of designs you are able to create in the game, and have been some of the most successful items put in place in an update.
The Christmas update has been my favorite update in DTI so far. Having several new items and features and updating the game aesthetic to match the holidays and the season, the new update has drastically improved the game. Even while there are so many different things, the new update hasn’t been overwhelming at all. The Halloween update, on the other hand, had a lot of new items, but also drastically changed the game, which made it overwhelming and hard to play. The only recommendation I would have for the game creators is to listen to the DTI community and take away the dressing rooms, which make it infinitely times harder to use code items and special items.
