French Club members will see the opera “La Boheme” at IU Bloomington on Nov. 12.
“It’s sung in Italian, but it’s based on a French story,” French Club sponsor Andrea Yocum said.
According to Yocum, students in the AP French class read and study “La Boheme” and then have the opportunity to see it on stage.
French Club president Lucy Terhune said she is excited for this event more than anything else planned during the school year.
“Ever since we’ve started reading ‘La Boheme’ in AP French, I haven’t been able to wait for the opera,” Terhune said. “There’s not a chance in the world I’m going to miss the opera.”
French Club treasurer Jacob Tehrani said he is less thrilled to see the opera.
“I don’t know, I’m just not interested in it,” Tehrani said. “I took French class to learn French, not to see some opera singers speaking in Italian for a French story.”

I never said that. I always love going to every French Club field trip, especially if it is to IU! I just wasn’t able to go to that one because I already had plans that day. I was actually pretty bummed out that I couldn’t go because it sounded exciting.
