Hip Hop Club has added a beatboxing section to the club, according to Mason Yao, Hip Hop Club officer and senior. The head of this section is junior Brennus Jonquet. Hip Hop Club meets every Tuesday after school until 5 p.m. in the main lobby near the Dale E. Graham Auditorium.
“The main purpose of the new addition is to incorporate other aspects of hip-hop culture and expression into our club,” Yao said. “This affects the club by giving our members more opportunities to experience different aspects of hip-hop culture.”
Jonquet said beatboxing expands on the rapping section of the club and introduces bass sounds that hip hop is based on.
“Beatboxing allows those who have not yet perfected the dancing aspect of hip hop to express themselves through a more vocal form,” Jonquet said.
Sponsor Lacey Grabek said she continues to be astounded by the growth of the club.
“It’s great. I love sitting around watching students turn into teachers,” Grabek said. “The members of the club want to include each and every person and their unique talent.”
