According to Sen Xiong, Hip Hop Club officer and junior, the club is set to compete in Carmel’s Best Dance Crew (CBDC) on May 11 in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium. The selected dance crews continue to rehearse and practice for the annual competition.
“Groups now have to get their act together and rehearse like they’ve never rehearsed before,” Richard Phan, Hip Hop Club officer and senior, said. “It seems like most groups are in good standing.”
“Everyone is getting excited,” Xiong said. “I think it’s the idea that the dancers can show off their abilities while still having fun competing with others.”
One chief aspect of CBDC is its benefits with the public, according to Xiong.
“All the funds go to Global Giving; that’s most important” Xiong said. “We also get to share hip hop with the community. This show allows us to show everyone how creative we are for a very benefiting charity.”
Sponsor Lacey Grabek said she’s excited for the upcoming show.
“Watching them grow as dancers all year, it all escalates to this,” Grabek said. “All the competitors are well on their way.”
